Tips for treating respiratory diseases in livestock and poultry

There are many therapeutic drugs for respiratory diseases in livestock and poultry, but for each clinical use of livestock and poultry can be good and use the effect, which is more difficult for the majority of clinical first-line treatment veterinarians! The reason is that the pharmacological knowledge we already have is basically learned from universities and books, and there are certain differences with the reality, and it is not practical!

Because those pharmacological knowledge in books are basically indicators and parameters made by mice, rabbits or livestock and poultry healthy animal laboratories; The drugs we see clinically are all sub-health and pathological cases. Those things on the books, all need to be explored in production practice, experience summed up into reality, that is, the application of pharmacology.

Therefore, here, the application of pharmacology is the combination of theory and production practice after the drug pharmacology. It comes from the book, from the principles and mechanisms in the book; However, it is very different from the books, specific diseases require specific drugs, specific mechanisms require technical compatibility (prescription), specific prescriptions require special use, and so on.

Doxycycline and Timicosin, for example. These two drugs are alkaline antibiotics, and usually the pH value of extracellular fluid is about 7.3-7.6. Under such internal environmental conditions, the alkaline antibiotics absorbed into the body - Temicosin and doxycycline - are relatively easy to transport from the outside of the cell into the cell, that is, Temicosin and doxycycline are easy to aggregate in the cell. These two drugs are distributed in much higher concentrations inside the cell than outside the cell.

The pH value of intracellular fluid in livestock and poultry is about 7, and most of them are under a weakly acidic environment. For pathogens such as blue ear virus, influenza virus and Newcastle disease, which are parasitic, replicating and multiplying in cells, they need an acidic intracellular fluid environment.

It can be imagined that when a large number of timicosin and doxycycline enter the cell, the pH value of the intracellular fluid changes from acidic to alkaline, which causes the virus that needs to replicate, assemble and reproduce in the cell, because the pH value of the intracellular fluid that depends on suddenly becomes alkaline and does not adapt, resulting in the replication of the virus in the body is inhibited.

Look at the infection of respiratory diseases in livestock and poultry in autumn and winter, most of them have the participation of viruses (some are dominant, some are recessive). In this case, for the treatment of autumn livestock and poultry respiratory diseases, antiviral drugs combined with these two drugs are more effective than other drugs with the same effect, or the effect is stronger than them (such as tyvanectin), which has excellent clinical application effects.

Of course, these only let us understand the reason why Timicosin and doxycycline are better than other drugs in the treatment of respiratory diseases in livestock and poultry. To really use the application technology and prescription technology of these two drugs to the extreme, it is also necessary to have more application pharmacology of these two drugs. For example, they have different pharmacological applications in target animals such as pigs, chickens and ducks, so as to improve the use of the two drugs in different animals. This is also the need for everyone in the production practice, experience, summary and improvement.
